Modify your routine and your life will change

I’ve found it’s always hardest to get started. Having dreams and aspirations with writing, I realized I was talking about it more than actually doing it. I always found I didn’t have enough time, because the clock plays tricks on you like that. What works for me the most is using a basic sticky note. I created an empty calendar starting my week on Sunday. Every day I write, (post a blog and work on my fiction drafts) I check off the box for the day; It’s reminds me of a blank to-do list. My goal is to have five days a week checked off. I’ve used this idea for holding myself accountable to work out too. Even if I’m not able to make it to the gym, I can run outside around my neighborhood and do abs in my living room. The power of having to check these boxes off and visually see if I’m on track for the week motivates me– AND I have two days to slack (with working out my goal is only hitting four days a week hehe) so if I slept in or couldn’t find the time, it’s okay.

What do you want to add to your routine, and what are some other ways (than my sticky note challenge) to create a habit?

  1. Great stuff Alexa, love this! 🙂

Some great tips you’ve shared here. I like how you have a goal, but there’s flexibility in it to allow for varied weeks. For some people set time/days are more structured and work better, however for others a plan like yours is more ideal.

I like to track my healthy habits using phone apps as this helps to keep me accountable. It’s also nice to see the run streak increase and this keeps on motivating me.

Loving the content, keep doing what you’re doing! 🙂

PS – On a related note, I’m on the hunt for feedback for my new show The HERO Podcast! It’s all about creating healthy habit. The episode with Derek Doepker may be of interest to you where he discusses how to make lasting changes.
